I will be starting my own lab at the Center for Integrative Genomics at the University of Lausanne in October 2026. The Nichols lab will study how the small and stereotypic nervous systems of nematode worms generate diverse behaviour. My lab has been funded by a Swiss National Science Foundation starting grant to investigate the circuit and system-wide functional and genetic mechanisms that underlie differences in heat sensation between the temperate-living Caenorhabditis elegans and the tropical species C. tropicalis.
